Our Beliefs & the ABCDE model
What creates our beliefs and our way of reacting to this or that situation?
Events past since the moment of our conception. These events generated thoughts in us (positive or negative) according to which we shaped our character, our thoughts and our reactions.
Is it possible to change?
YES. It is enough to first identify the negative elements that prevent us from progressing or generate unwanted situations. This can be done through therapy, coaching using different techniques and of course, your willingness to want this change.
The ABCDE model
In psychology, the ABCDE model is used in cognitive-behavioral therapy. It is often used to examine and understand a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in stressful or problematic situations. Each letter represents a key component of this model:
A: Activation
These are situations, events or stimuli that trigger an emotional response or behavior in a person. Events which happened at a period of life and which generated a belief which today is part of the personality.
B: (Beliefs) Beliefs
beliefs are the thoughts or interpretations of the situation that influence emotions and behaviors (beliefs that are born during the Activation cited above).
C: Consequences
These are the emotions, physical sensations or behaviors that result from the beliefs and initial activation.
D: Disputation
it involves examining, challenging irrational or maladaptive beliefs using logical and objective evidence, visualizations,. anchors (NLP technique) in order to break these irrational beliefs and adapt your behavior as best as possible.
E: Effects
Effects refer to the emotional or behavioral changes that occur when beliefs are changed or challenged constructively.
